MMO Boredom
by Mykl on Jul.15, 2010, under Games, Whatever
To relieve stress and “get away from it all”, I like to play video games, specifically, Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMO). I gave up on the single player games because, they seem to be focused more on graphics than content anymore. When you install a 15 gig game and can completely complete it in two days, that’s a big fast waste of money. So, I go the free to play (F2P) MMO model. Why? Because it Free To Play. Duh.
Anywho, there is a problem here. Most of the F2P games follow this basic model:
- Create a character
- Start the game
- Do Quests or Grind
- Lather, Rinse, Repeat forever.
- If you want the really good gear, you need to fork over real cash in exchange for in game stuff
- Get Bored – quit
And that lasts about one to two weeks. Still, one to two weeks of free gaming is better then none at all. I just wish I could stick it out with EvE. I love that game but, I’m not hardcore enough of a gamer to dedicate 4-6 hours at a time to it for fleet ops and things of that nature. I don’t group much because I have to get up and do stuff all the time.
I’m a casual gamer. I don’t live for it. However, I’ve tried so many different games and they all keep me occupied for a little while. Then it’s time to move on to something else. Eventually I am sure I will come across a game that really keeps my attention for a long time. I can’t relate to people who have been playing the same game for 5 years. I know some people like that but, just not me.
Anywho – come on MMO makers, think outside that box!
Not Sure Why – But I Like It

Probably because of the animation and they use the word midget. Don’t hear that much in songs.
Om Nom Nom Nom

I grew up with Sesame Street and the Cookie Monster. He loved chocolate chip cookies and when he ate them, he made a certain sound…
Ahhh, the memories.
